Crusaders,

Today is a special day: We are officially moving the game away from its “playtest” state and into the official 1.0 release! You can find them on the rules page of our website.

The new rules are, more or less, the same Trench Crusade you all know and love. Whilst there are minor changes the bulk of the work here has been centered on transforming the playtest ruleset into something modern and robust. If you’ve been following along with the preview articles you’ll know what we mean.

Additionally, this is not just a simple copy/paste of the physical rulebook. They are fully optimised for mobile devices and tablets, including embedded links between different chapters and rules. A desktop version of this will be available at a later date.

Finally, the rules have been split into two books: the Trench Crusade Digital Rulebook and the Warbands of Trench Crusade. Both names should be pretty self explanatory!

Reporting issues

We cannot understate just how much work has gone into these rules. Transforming a PDF cobbled together in Tuomas’ and James’ spare time into a professional rules set that will stand the test of time has been a herculean effort on behalf of the team.

We have read and re-read these rules until our eyes bled. However, we are perfectly aware that mistakes will have slipped by regardless. As much as we have read this document, it’s about to be piped into tens of thousands of eyeballs. Errors will be found and rest assured that they will be corrected.

These should be very minor for the most part and will be corrected in due course. If anything serious is found then we’ll update the document ASAP.
If you spot an error: Please use the Contact form on the website, and the topic “Rules feedback” under Contact. All feedback will be collected, sorted and acted upon as needed. Do not message, PM or email us about the rules please. We will unfortunately not be able to reply to each individual message or take it into account.

A Living Rulebook

We are incredibly proud of these books and we hope they will help current and future Crusaders in their wargaming adventures. But remember, together they form a “living rulebook”. The rules for Trench Crusade are not only free but will continue to be updated with a schedule to be announced later. This is how we’ll tackle any minor errors in the rules, balance changes and even just improving wording or quality of life improvements for the books, etc.
