Will you claim the Crimson Chalice?
Trench Crusade is launching our first official painting competition: The Crimson Chalice! Ever since Trench Crusade first arrived on the wargaming scene, we have been constantly blown away by the photos of all of the amazing minis fans have been painting.
At Spiel Essen 2025, we were approached by a group of miniature painters who offered to help us set up our own painting competition, and we decided it was time to officially support all of the amazing artists out there!
The Crimson Chalice painting competition will debut this year at Spiel Essen 2026! The event is in Essen Germany, from October 22-25 2026.
The categories are as follows:
- Trench Crusade Single Figure
- Trench Crusade Large Figure
- Trench Crusade Warband
- Trench Crusade Storytelling
- Trench Crusade Open
- Young Guns (Under 16)
How do I participate?
We know that painting up a mini to competition level takes time, so we wanted to give you as much warning as possible! The full rules for the contest, exact dates and how to sign up will be coming very soon, but here’s what you need to know to get started on your entry:
- Miniatures do not have to be painted in the “grimdark” style; you are free to paint your entry however you wish.
- The Single Figure, Large Figure, Warband, Storytelling and Young Guns categories can only be entered with official Trench Crusade miniatures. This includes our official STL range, any models from our plastic range, or minis from The Red Brigade and The Great Hunger.
- The Open category can be entered with any Trench Crusade miniature, whether it be an official Trench Crusade offering, a proxy made by another sculptor, or even something you created yourself!
We’ll be back soon with all the details. Until then, grab your brushes and get painting, Crusaders!
